Below are some of the details from each trip .. most recent first.

Winter 2023   Going North to Townsville Eco Resort in QLD

The trip this year is going to involve less kilometers and be less stressful. The plan is to spend most of the winter within comfortable reach of Townsville. Trips to the Cancer Clinic at Townsville hospital every three weeks will limit our range a little. We have the same house sitters as 2022 and they are now licensed amateur radio operators, so radio is back on the cards. After a couple of false starts it looks like we'll get away on July 10, but my camera won't start getting used until a day or two later. If you meet up with us on the road, dont be surprised to find two old people who are now 17 years older than the picture above.

Winter 2017  Queensland

The trip this year is going to involve less kilometers and be a little less stressful. The plan includes (in this order) Dubbo, Gilgandra, Coonabarabran, Narrabri, Moree, Goondiwindi, Moonie, Miles, Taroom, Theodore, Banana, Biloela, Calliope, Rockhampton, Emerald, Clermont, Charters Towers, Townsville, Innisfail, Cairns, Mareeba, Atherton, Ravenshoe, Mount Surprise, Georgetown, Normanton, Cloncurry  and finally back home. It sounds like a mighty trip, but some places we may just drive through and others might get more of our attention. It is in fact 6435 kilometers which is half the kilometers we did last year. I should have more time for photography. It all starts on May 17 but the web pages wont start getting updated until a day or two later.

Winter 2016 West Australia

A little late but we are on our way to Karijini National Park in W.A. The house-sitters (Mitch & Brenda) are from QLD so if you call by, don't mention "state of origin". I have fitted an extra solar panel to the caravan. It now has 5 solar panels that are each rated at 200 watts! We can now recharge the batteries quicker, and stay longer in the bush.

Winter 2015 didn't happen again... medical! Hell it's Bloody COLD in Sydney in the winter. Hopefully we'll do the W.A. trip in 2016.

Winter 2013 Another look at Queensland.

One of our goals on this trip is to travel the Birdsville Track from Marree to Birdsville (if the weather is kind). We'll head across to the Flinders Ranges in S.A. and then north to Marree. From there it will be 575 kilometers of dirt road to Birdsville and then Mt Isa. After that we'll zig-zag all over QLD before going back down south.

Winter 2012 The Gulf Developmental Road.

Somewhere in this trip we may travel the Gulf Developmental Road, and it could look like this:- Broken Hill, Tibooburra, Noccundra, Eromanga, Quilpie, Windorah, Longreach, Winton, Hughenden, Julia Creek, Burke Á Wills Roadhouse, Normanton, Cairns ... then the familiar cruise down the East Coast back home. Well that's a likely scenario.
