Whether you have been here before or not.. WELCOME! I'm
not much of a photographer but I enjoy taking photos that [to me] seem unusual or interesting. Sometimes I think they are funny, sometimes strange and sometimes R rated. In any case you are encouraged to put comments in the visitors book. I hope I can make you smile or even giggle a bit.
On the last day at Emerald we went for a drive - nowhere really, just a drive. But imagine our surprise when we came across "Fairbairn Dam". It's 23 k from Emerald but I presume it is the Emerald water supply. I was told that it is currently sitting at 23% .. so how come the Emerald Showground is inviting the greynomads to wash their cars and caravans???
Another surprise. This rather nice caravan park looks over the dam. The park has everything you might want for $35 a night (powered van site).
So we left Emerald and hit the road - not as hard as this fellow though. His rear axle, wheels and diff where on the other side of the road.

A roadside stop for morning tea showed just how many dirty untidy bastards we have on the roads.
And keep an eye on your tyre pressures.
Take a close look at this guy and what he has in his beak. When I first spotted him he was dancing around a little girl bird trying to impress her. Little did he know that the shiny thing he had picked up was a "wedding ring"! When I got too close the girly bird took off. He might post me a "thank you" card.

After driving 360klms i.e. a little more than half way from Emerald to Charters Towers we stopped here for night.
But at 11:00pm a dirty great truck also parked nearby with a petrol driven refrigeration unit running continuously until 4:00am. Just unlucky I guess.
As we were setting up camp at Charters Towers I watched this magpie stalking his lunch. He said "If I tip-toe up behind this fat frog I might have myself a free lunch"
WHOAH!! The bloody thing jumps.
