WELCOME!  -  I'm not much of a photographer but I enjoy taking photos that [to me] seem unusual or interesting. Sometimes I think they are funny, sometimes strange and sometimes R rated. I hope I can make you smile or even giggle a bit.

This old house

This ole house once knew his children
This ole house once knew his wife
This ole house was home and comfort
As they fought the storms of life
This old house once rang with laughter
This old house heard many shouts
Now he trembles in the darkness
When the lightnin' walks about

Cape to Brisbane

They started from Cape Tribulation and are on their way to Brisbane. He's from Belgium and she's from England. Nothing seems to bother them! There's only one thing that would stop me from doing the same thing ...

.. .. riding a bike on the road.

They don't have little showers

When it rains in north QLD, it doesn't shower - - it  pours down.
So they need slightly larger gutters.

Charters Towers

The "World", as the locals know it.
Charters Towers was proclaimed a Goldfield in 1872 after an aboriginal boy named Jupiter Mosman discovered gold in 1871. Consequently the pharmacies charge three times as much as Sydney for doctors prescriptions.

Mine shafts

Pity they didn't refill the mine shafts when the gold ran out.

It says "Open Mine Shaft - Keep Out"

Not quite a "thatched roof"

I asked the old man who lived here why his roof was covered in rocks.
He claimed that during the war, the attacking bombers couldn't see his house underneath.
So he leased it out to the Americans as an amunition store.

An afternoon stroll

The walking track was rocky and steep, but we showed amazing resilience and tenacity as we trecked for hours to get to the top. The next pic reveals it all..

a long walk

I have to say it didn't seem like 21 kms - but that's probably because we are both extremely fit athletes.

Thats where we came from

Look closely. The arrow shows the caravan park at Nome QLD where we came from on our trek.

sand castles

We walked past this in the pitch black late last night (don't ask how that came about).

Thank heavens we didn't see it in the dark.
I could have instinctively snapped into a dangerous
attack mode and destroyed it in a few seconds with my bare hands!

at least it's paper and not plastic

The message about plastic coffee cups is getting through.
This paper one is nine feet from top to bottom and consumes twenty eight kilos of PAPER!

a guessing competition surely

Whatever this is.. .. .. it is claimed that the Townsville council paid $15,000 dollars for it.

(I think it is a really nice plant that just grew there).
