Connie loves dogs .. .. ..
and also gets attached to other .. .. .. .. er.. .. bigger animals as well.
The Gulflander !
We passed it on the way to Normanton. (No! it didn't pass us!)
Looking for a termite?
I know where there are some.
Nothing needs to be said.
If you waste water here at Burke & Wills Roadhouse, you could find yourself in a cattle truck with a free ticket to Indonesia.
And there are plenty of cattle trucks to choose from. The drivers seem to prefer meals here at the Burke & Wills Roadhouse. Unless they drive down the road a few hundred kilometers.
Connie behave!!!
Waving at truckies and causing a stir!
My little rig looked like a toy beside these road trains (see them in the background). Their parking area is like Mascot airport.
We arrived at Cloncurry just in time for the annual "Bushman's Bash, Markets, Rodeo" weekend.
We have never been to a rodeo and we were pleased to get this opportunity.
Some people feel sorry for the livestock - but I think the livestock won most of the contests!
The cowboys paid dearly with cuts and bruises. The horses and bulls walked away with something that looked like a smile...
Here is an interesting couple who we got on well with. We met Peter & Jill in Rockhampton where Peter decided he needed some heart surgery. They ducked down to Brisbane for a few days for the surgery and several weeks later we unexpectedly met them 1600 klms away in the information bureau in Normanton. Pete's heart surgery worked apparently.
Then we met them again at Cloncurry. We all went to the rodeo where they entered the "egg throwing [at each other] contest".
.. and who do you think won the $10 prize money for throwing eggs! Yup, Pete and Jill. Top marks you two!
After a hard day at work, I mean at the rodeo, we wandered off to find the "Chinamans Dam and Picnic area" just on the edge of town (about 500 meters away).
