On the road from Cloncurry to Kynuna we were reminded of the dangers .. .. .. (sermon .. sermon .. sermon).
Bloody hell he did a good job on this Mazda eh!
We crossed many creeks and rivers that looked like this. Imagine the heartbreak for early explorers when they came across these .. and the next one was a week or two away.
This guy is riding his three horses from Brisbane to Darwin to raise funds for prostate cancer research. See his web page at www.brstrailride.com
Then we started a pub crawl at Walkabout Creek Hotel. That's where Crocodile Dundee used to drink. Actually the pub was moved a few kilometers to get it closer to passing traffic but it still drinked alright (hic) without that overgrown lizard sharing the bar.
Proof that we went there.
The next pub that was graced with our presence was the Blue Heeler at Kynuna. This is where the barmaid was repairing the pool table while I gave her hints and instructions. Not really.
The main claim to fame is shown in the next pic.
I seem to have heard a couple of different stories about the Blue Heeler pub and I'm not sure which is correct, so I wont say anything until I've finished anuder beere (hic).
The Brolgas are hungry and made it quite obvious that they expected a feed.

1994 population 25
2004 population 12
2014 prediction 2 (my guess - the policeman and the publican)
The Kynuna police firmly believe that high police visibility is the best deterrent to crime.
The truck is real, but will the scarecrow be convincing.
