Whether you have been here before or not.. WELCOME! I'm
not much of a photographer but I enjoy taking photos that [to me] seem unusual or interesting. Sometimes I think they are funny, sometimes strange and sometimes R rated. In any case you are encouraged to put comments in the visitors book. I hope I can make you smile or even giggle a bit.
Big surprise for us. We've driven past the Bush Oasis Caravan Park at Nome (10 minutes from Townsville) so many times and never looked at the place. Because our regular park was booked out, we tried the Bush Oasis park and were tickled pink with it. A lovely place with really friendly owners. The pool is heated and looks inviting.
This was another view of the pool. It's somewhere near here.
Ah ! nice! back to reality.

Forget the feeding times!!!! This croc wants to eat something NOW! That poor fellow on the left (the one looking down charlie's throat) was about to lose his head. Luckily I grabbed the tail of that great beast and dragged him backwards a couple of feet then jumped over the fence before the croc turned on ME.
How cute is this... a young French couple who are touring Australia, came to Townsville fully prepared carrying a tiny stove, a saucepan, baked beans and a can of Coke for each of them. Before they left France some Aussie bastard told them that's how to look "normal" and "fit in with the Aussies".
I did NOT want more Ice Cream or Gelato, but Connie literally threatened me.

I looked at all the flavors and we finally came to an agreement.
I agreed to watch while Connie gorged herself.
The Strand is famous in Townsville and every tourist will walk the 2.5 kilometer length at least once during their visit to this beautiful city. However, for some, it gets a little too much and it's wise to carry a hammock in your backpack.

Today was definitely a day for doing something DIFFERENT so we hired a car. Instead of driving about in a Landcruiser we took the advice of the hire car company who said "If you want to appear normal and fit in with the Aussies, you'll need this perfectly common little car".
Once upon a time, many years ago, the local uni. students abseiled from the top of Castle Hill overlooking Townsville city and painted an image of "The Saint" high up on the mountain face. Today the image has almost gone. There is still a faint white image left. Look just below the center of this pic and you'll see it.
For those who don't know about it, the Omnimax theatre had a huge dome shaped curved roof which was the screen. Patrons laid down and looked up at the ceiling to watch full length documentaries. I recall that getting out in the dark during a show to visit the toilet proved to be embarrassing when some patrons had fallen asleep (tripping and falling onto them could not be avoided). Anyway, I went to see what shows were currently showing and found it had closed up shop and GONE! Bugger.
