Whether you have been here before or not.. WELCOME! I'm
not much of a photographer but I enjoy taking photos that [to me] seem unusual or interesting. Sometimes I think they are funny, sometimes strange and sometimes R rated. In any case you are encouraged to put comments in the visitors book. I hope I can make you smile or even giggle a bit.
If you expand this pic (click on it) and look up the tree on the left, you may see my wire radio antenna that goes right to the top. It creates curiosity, questions and sometimes laughter. "WTF! how did you get that up there? and "How the hell are ya gonna get it back down"? etc.
I think I saved a life. She was looking the wrong way when the train pulled into the station. She only looked around because I was aiming my camera at her ... "whats he taking my photo for? ... oh shit! a fu^%ng train!
Once the dismembered body had been removed from the tracks, the excursion continued. We were promised "a hearty meal at the Golden Gate Cattle Station". Sounds exciting eh!

And here it was ... the cattle station ? no cattle, no station, no cowboys, no nothing!
And here was the "Hearty meal" ... the bread roll, a cup of soup, and a rather dubious looking chunk of meat on a bone. Oh! and some rice, and a can of Coke. Some tree stumps were available for those who preferred to sit while eating.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the price of the excursion, however I do think the Gulflander could have provided toothpicks! or dropped the "meal" altogether.
Between Croydon and Normanton the meaning of "Shared Roadway" takes on a whole new meaning. Expand the pic and look closely on the left.

The Black Bull siding was somewhere between Croydon and Normanton. The extravagant amenities have not been used for a LONG LONG time.
This was the waiting area for economy class customers.
This was the emergency overnight accommodation which was available in the event of a breakdown up the track somewhere. The rail workers and squatters also use it.

This appears to be the "First Class" waiting area. Note the fence which helps to keep the drunks upright.
Even has toilets - nothing inside mind you.
And here at Normanton I made a bad bad choice. I opted for the "free campsite beside the river". It's obviously not very popular, and for good reason. The ranger does a body count several times each day because the crocodiles have a taste for humans rather than mangoes. It's also free, and for good reason.
